I do enjoy certain things this time of year – like the gifts I get must all contain catnip.
The New York Times newspaper has a great article about what Mom and Dad should remember, “How to Keep Your Pets Safe During the Holidays”. Mainly, that my friend here loves to chew on wires, so watch out Christmas tree!!
Don’t forget about the main things your cat may not be safe around:
- Wires (as mentioned above): Cats may chew on those things that they love, like my BFF Sam.
- Certain Plants: Cats are allergic to many of the plants we bring home this time of year – Amaryllis, Holly, and Poinsettia (ASPCA has a full list HERE)
- Christmas Tree: Yes, Mom said I may have climbed up it before. I refuse to admit it. But other cats could have really been hurt by this decision.
- Human Food: Sure, you will be cooking some delicious items, but I prefer my regular food. Some cats may want samples, but you could unintentionally include some of the things that don’t go well in our tummies, like garlic, onions, and leeks.
Sam and I hope you all have a great holiday season!! And that you have lots of catnip, of course!
